Savita Dandapani, M.D., Ph.D., has joined the Department of Radiation Oncology as an assistant professor.Dr. Dandapani earned her undergraduate degrees in biology and literature, with a minor in chemistry, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. She then earned a Ph.D. in genetics from Harvard University, followed by a medical doctorate from Harvards medical school. She completed an internship at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA, followed by a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Southern California where she was eventually appointed chief resident. While in residency, she received multiple awards including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Award in clinical cancer research in 2011, an acknowledgement of excellence in oncology clinical and translational research. She received the AACR Research Award in Molecular Biology in 2011, and the Massachusetts Medical Society Award in 2007. Dr. Dandapani also received an NIH Medical Scientist Training Program Scholarship (2000 Ð 2008), and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Award (1997 Ð 1998).Dr. Dandapani has published more than 10 articles in the peer-reviewed literature and has been invited to present her work at numerous national meetings. She has served as the vice president of the Harvard Chapter for the Massachusetts Medical Society and a co-president of the Harvard Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
