Dr. Tommy Korn is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in cornea-external disease, cataract surgery and refractive eye surgery. He has been with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group since 2001. Dr. Korn received his medical degree at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his internship at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and his ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Diego. He later completed his cornea-refractive surgery fellowship at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Korn is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.Dr. Korn is actively involved in educating other physicians about eye disease and ophthalmic surgery. He serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at UC San Diego assisting ophthalmology residents in learning cataract and corneal surgery. He is the ophthalmology editor of Resident and Staff Physician, an international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal that serves primary care physicians and residents. As a faculty member of the Osler Institute, Dr. Korn helps ophthalmologists prepare for their written and oral board examinations. Dr. Korn is also an active member of the international ophthalmology community having volunteered on medical missions to the Ukraine, Mexico, and Thailand.
