Cardiovascular disease, and other chronic illnesses, are often the result of lifestyles fueled by poor nutrition and lack of physical activity. Modifying lifestyle choices can be a powerful tool in preventing and managing chronic conditions, and physician counseling of lifestyle is part of clinical care. Nutrition, exercise, herbs and supplements are often not evidence-based, so it is important for healthcare professionals to know the evidence regarding these various approaches to lifestyle medicine.
