CONTRACEPTION UPDATE
April 28, 2025TRENDING WELLNESS TOPICS: Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a common health problem for women, affecting as many as 11% of women in the United States during their reproductive years. It is prevalent among women in their 30s and 40s and may increase trouble getting pregnant. Endometriosis is one of the most frequent causes of chronic pelvic pain in women. However, the wide range of associated symptoms and significant overlap with other conditions can delay a diagnosis of endometriosis for an average of 6-11 years from symptom onset. Many even remain undiagnosed and are therefore not treated. Because clinicians have scant training and difficulty differentiating the causes of chronic pelvic pain, many patients are not adequately managed. As a result, chronic pelvic pain can severely affect a woman’s sense of well-being and quality of life.
