According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 13,360 new cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed in 2025, and an estimated 4,320 women will die from it. Currently the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends screening for cervical cancer every 3 years in women ages 21-29 with cervical cytology alone, and for women ages 30-65 years, screening every 3 years with cervical cytology alone, every 5 years with high-risk HPV testing alone, or co-testing every 5 years. Physicians should be aware of the revised guidelines to be able to implement them in practice.
