This month, we are spotlighting Jacqueline Steltz-Lenarsky, who has served over 30 years as a Continuing Medical Education manager at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center (PSJMC) in Burbank, California. Jacqui is one of our many clients with whom we have had the privilege of partnering to create a successful CME program for the last three decades.
Jacqui facilitates a program that provides several resources for the identified educational needs of the hospital’s professional staff. The program’s cornerstone has been twice-weekly grand rounds. At the beginning of the pandemic, PSJMC transitioned to a virtual format and was joined by two other Providence hospitals to share the sponsorship of virtual grand rounds. The conferences are currently accessed by staff at five Southern California Providence hospitals. The sessions sponsored by PSJMC are in a hybrid format, consisting of small, in-person audiences and a virtual option, also shared among five Providence hospitals. A robust Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) schedule of twelve case-based activities allows for timely prospective discussion and treatment planning. A CME website of archived lecture videos allows the staff access to credit-bearing activities 24/7 skills training such as ACLS, fetal monitoring, and simulation courses round out the CME program.
Jacqui’s favorite part of her job is the people – daily interactions with hospital colleagues, the Medical Education Committee, and other professional staff members. She finds these daily in-person touches so fulfilling, especially when planning activities. Jacqui feels highly valued at PSJMC and appreciates all the support she has received from the administration and professional staff leadership over the years. This support has been instrumental in Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center receiving Accreditation with Commendation in its last two re-accreditation cycles.
MESN and Jacqui go back many years, and we have developed a partnership that allows us to assist in creating the best overall result.
When she is not creating and facilitating incredible CME activities, Jacqui is captaining a competitive USTA 3.5 men’s tennis team. She has been doing this for over ten years!
